Rebuilding the Tongan Ships VR (PC)

Tong-an ships were originally used as merchant ships. However, due to their ease of operation, they gradually became used by the navy during the late Qianlong era. During the Jiaqing era, the Qing court began using large Tongan ships to suppress pirates and maintain naval superiority.
This VR installation reconstructs the Tongan ship from Diagram of the Tongan Ship Ji and related documents in the Qing historical archives. Situated virtually on the three-hundred-year-old ship, users have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of the vessel.
